Mercedes-AMG GT 4 Introduction: Where Performance Meets Practical Luxury

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is more than just a vehicle; it's an expression of aspiration, pace, and elegance. This four-door powerhouse, which combines the essence of a race car with the luxury of a refined sedan, is made for drivers who won't compromise between exhilarating performance and daily comfort.
The first stand-alone electric vehicle from the AMG division, the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door Coupe EQ, will debut in 2026 and mark the start of the AMG.EA platform.
The soon-to-be-released electric Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door coupe EQ is likely the AMG model that has garnered the most media coverage and public attention.
The Mercedes Vision AMG concept, which was unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the summer of 2022, marked the beginning of the whole thing. The Mercedes Vision One-Eleven idea, which honors the prototype Mercedes C 111 car from the 1970s, came after this in 2023.
The Mercedes-AMG GT XX concept, which borrows the Vision One-Eleven's low-mounted concave grille and two air intakes in the hood, was then released by Mercedes in the summer of 2025.
The Mercedes-AMG GT XX Concept broke over 25 world records in August 2025. Among them: it traveled 5,479 km in 24 hours, 40,075 km in slightly over seven days, and charged at MCS stations at speeds of up to 850 kW.
The production version of the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door Coupe EQ will have its world debut in the first half of 2026. This couldn't have occurred sooner since the new YASA axial-flux motors, manufactured by the firm that Mercedes bought on July 22, 2021, won't go into production until 2026.
Exterior Design Mercedes Vision AMG,
The forthcoming Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door Coupe EQ's outside design will be influenced by the Vision AMG idea, which has a low hood and a flat windshield, according to unofficial sources. The Mercedes-AMG GT XX concept, which established 25 global records, has a concave grille, but it seems that this feature won't be included in the production model.
The first images of the disguised car in the promotional film starring George Russell and Brad Pitt, which show that the grille is not concave, back up this assertion.
The same marketing video also shows that the vehicle has a back window, which is why we think the production model will still have one and won't adhere to the Vision AMG concept, which did away with it.
The Mercedes-AMG GT XX has an extremely low drag coefficient (Cx) of 0.198. The production car will probably come close to this figure, which would be a record for a mass-produced vehicle. Comparatively, the Mercedes EQS (2021) and the Porsche Taycan share a Cx of 0.22.
Mercedes Vision One-Eleven Interior Design.
The interior will be based on the Vision One-Eleven concept, which includes a small screen that covers the length of the car, whereas the exterior is modeled after the Vision AMG idea. The AMG GT XX, on the other hand, has two displays: a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 14-inch multimedia screen.
The AMG GT 4-door Coupe EQ is also unlikely to include the yoke-style steering wheel seen in the AMG GT XX, which is similar to the AMG One's, because it is a GT and not a hypercar.
YASA motors on the AMG.EA platform
The technology is evident, though some aspects of the outside and interior design remain unknown. The new high-performance AMG.The EA platform will make its debut on the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door Coupe EQ.
Three YASA axial-flux motors will propel the four-door coupe's premium model. Each of them is a compact unit with a planetary gearset and an inverter that is integrated into the rear axle.
The third motor, which also includes a spur-gear transmission and an inverter in a small package, is located on the front axle. It functions as a power booster, turning on only when additional power is required, and may be switched off mechanically to conserve energy. The oil cools the gearbox and motors. Depending on traction, the torque can be distributed between the front and rear axles in any manner.
Electromagnetic flow along the motor's axis enables YASA axial-flux motors to provide significant power in small, lightweight packages. A YASA motor weighs just 24 kg, making it two-thirds lighter and one-third smaller than a standard electric motor.
The motors may be positioned closer to the wheels for improved performance, thanks to the compact and lightweight design, which also facilitates greater continuous power output and cooling. A single YASA motor is capable of producing 348 kW (474 PS). With a maximum speed of more than 360 km/h, the system's overall output is over 1,000 kW (1,360 PS).
Mercedes Vision New High-Performing Battery Technology
The battery is brand new and totally distinct from the one utilized by the MB.EA platform. It employs laser-welded plastic modules containing cylindrical cells with integrated cooling channels, which offer superior cooling and temperature management under heavy loads, rather than prismatic cell modules.
The battery chemistry includes silicon in the anode and utilizes NCMA (nickel, cobalt, manganese, aluminum) for the cathode. It offers a distinctive combination of high energy density (300 Wh/kg, 740 Wh/l at the cell level), excellent charging capabilities, and long lifespan. The high-voltage battery is housed in a structural casing that is built into the vehicle's chassis between the axles.
DC charging is possible at speeds of up to 850 kW thanks to the 800-volt battery technology. Alpitronic, a manufacturer of charging stations, already sells 1,000 kW chargers that may have CCS or MCS connectors. A CCS cable can only handle a maximum charging power of 600 kW before requiring specialized connector cooling. In the future, the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door Coupe EQ will be able to charge at rates of up to 850 kW thanks to its MCS connector.
The three-motor version will compete with the next Ferrari Elettrica (four motors, 1,130 PS, active suspension from the F80) and the new Porsche Taycan Turbo GT (1,019 PS), but there will also be two-motor versions. Our data indicates that the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door Coupé EQ will live alongside the regular model rather than take its place.
Mercedes-AMG is now testing an SUV that will be built on the same technological foundation as the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door Coupe EQ.
